To discover the champagnes des vignerons, follow the Route Touristique du Champagne, which covers more than 500 km between Reims and the Côte des Bar, with around 80 welcome centres. Five trails are available, four in the Marne and one in the Aube; they wend their way through the vines, taking you via magnificent viewpoints, authentic villages, ancient monasteries and imposing châteaux and churches. Wine growers offer personalised tours in a traditional, family setting. It is recommended that you book your visit in advance to be sure of the availability of the owners. Tours may be free or a fee may be charged, depending on what is offered.

Event: An exhibition of Champagne 16th century statuary from April to October 2009, in Troyes (Saint Jean Church)
St Jean Church will house 94 significant works of art from the golden age of Champagne sculpture: a period running from gothic to mannerism, that is to say from the end of the 14th century to the 16th century. A choreographed journey and subdued lighting will highlight the polychrome of the sculptures, and also the softness of the Champagne stone, the exemplary finesse of the clothing and the Virgins’ wise smiles. In this period, Troyes sculpture reached unique artistic heights, making Champagne one of the most important centres for artistic creation in Europe. In particular, Troyes was a leading centre for the arts, with the flourishing in sculpture, of local genius with its particular characteristics. The works are sober, realistic and both profoundly religious and human.
